Latest News Farewell to Gemma our Principal Cornet.
Our concert at Dodworth Central Social Club on Saturday 21st June was the last one that Gemma Hankins our Principal Cornet will play at with Dodworth for a while. Gemma has decided that she needed to concentrate on her career as music tutor which sees her conducting quite a number of junior orchestras and ensembles in her spare time. Gemma had been juggling all her commitments for a number of months and has decided to take some time out but has promised it won't be the last time we see or hear her with Dodworth. We would all like to thank her for her time at Dodworth where she has helped us progress to where we are today. All of us wish Gemma well in her future persuits. Obviously we will be looking to replace the talent that she brought to the Band and we are currently advertising for a replacement Principal Cornet so if you are interested contact Rob the Secretary. Butlins Mineworkers Open Contest Dodworth came away from Butlins with a 2nd place on the weekend of 19th January, this was the Bands first appearance at the contest and also the first outing in the Second Section since being promoted in 2008. A big well done to everyone involved for thier time and effort, we can certainly be proud of the result and the great weeked as well. Read More BBC Radio Sheffield Carol Concert Recording Dodworth have been invited back to record the annual BBC Radio Sheffield Christmas carol concert following last years succsesfull recording, Last years debut recording for the event received very favourable comments for both the Band and M.Ds professionalism and performance so we will be looking to duplicate this once again. The rehearsal and recording will take place this year at the Emmanuel Church,Barnsley. Details of the broadcast dates will follow shortly T.V.
